Dan Keating

Dan Keating, 40, is a certified consultant at Playmaker Systems, LLC, a management consultancy and influence strategy firm. His fields of expertise include information technology, enterprise software, e-commerce, financial services, biotechnology and business management. He is the principle author of more than 100 strategy advisories and a frequent speaker and manager of the firm’s workshops, wargames and academies.
Keating’s knowledge of influence strategy and contributions to the Playmaker system are unique and formative. From 2005 to 2006, he helped develop and test the first complete version of The Standard Table of Influence Strategies (a.k.a. The Playmaker’s Standard). As well, he served as lead researcher of the landmark book, The Elements of Influence: The New Essential System for Managing Competition, Reputation, Brand, and Buzz (Penguin Books 2006). Keating earned the firm’s first consulting certification in 2006 and advised on a variety of the company’s early engagements.
Most recently, Keating was a consultant in the Insurance Global Business Unit of Oracle Corp. where he managed consulting and software development teams in support of Fortune 100 enterprise integrations. In his 17-year career, he has managed and served on a variety of account teams for a host of elite companies, notably Oracle, SAP, Dow Corning, Abbott, AOL, QVC, JP Morgan Chase, Bank of New York, ABN Amro, and 7-Eleven. Prior to his work at Oracle, he established and ran a consulting firm that provided operational expertise to growing businesses in the enterprise software segment.
He holds a master’s degree in business administration from The Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester and bachelor’s degree in English from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. Keating lives in New York with his wife and two daughters, serves on several community boards, and is a founding member of Imagine Syracuse, a non-profit whose mission is to bring arts and enrichment services to inner-city children.
